4th of July in Tahoe
Spending the 4th of July weekend in Tahoe City this year. It's always a bit challenging with a dog, since most of the major parks don't allow dogs as well as hotels it we manage to have fun here anyway!
One of th only hotels that allows dogs in Tahoe City is Mother Nature's Inn. It's right on the main street, across the road from Commons Beach where they have concerts, BBQs, and the big 4th of Huly fireworks show. Too bad the beach doesn't allow dogs, even on leash. The hotel is a bit run down, the toilet is ancient, the rugs are kind of gross and the wifi only works from the hallway. But they're super pet friendly, they're centrally located, and if you get the last room at the far end (probably why the wifi is sketchy), you can leave the beach chairs and paddle board out in the hallway.
Another perk, Rosie's Cafe is next door where Bill gets their super yummy eggs Benedict.
The temperature has been in the mid 80 degrees F, so the lake is perfect to jump into to cool off. We went to Kiva beach near the South Shore on Saturday. It's got a nice sandy beach and loads of dogs for Ellie to play with, but not much shade. Very pretty view of the snow on the mountains (we took a pic above).
Today, we tried "pebble beach" near the Kaspian Sno Park a few miles south of Tahoe City. Unfortunately, the lake water is high this year so there's no beach! We parked the beach chairs near a picnic table in a spot that's somewhat away from the bike path. Ellie's loving the water.
